Mama Pea’s PopTarts [GF]

by felicia on February 21, 2012

I wasted no time after seeing Mama Pea post her homemade  pop tart recipe. I thought why not? Its fat tuesday after all. Nothing like a little procrastibaking.

Changes to her original recipe:

- I used 1 cup of brown rice flour and 1/2 cup sweet rice flour to make it gluten free

- Honey instead of maple syrup

- Rolled in coconut flour

- baked for exactly 13 minutes

The result?

Really freaking good pop tarts.

They almost look like little ravioli :)

This recipe was soo easy and came out great even when using GF flour.
TRY IT! now. GF or not.
I alllmost experimented with using almond flour + coconut flour to make it grain free. But I was too anxious to make them and was too lazy to experiment.
And I alllmost made the filling with berries mashed with chia seeds as the jam. But alas, I was too lazy again. But thats sounds like a good idea!
5 are now gone. Family approved as well ;)

Happy Fat Tuesday!

Don’t Fear It: Sardines

February 19, 2012

Sardines were originally not on the  top of my list when it comes to delicious and healthy food. I would watch my mom eat them when I was growing up, always saying “high in calcium!! they really are gooood!” and I would be freaked out by them. I’m all about healthy food, but if it [...]

Happy Valentines Day! I have to say, I’m really not that much into the holiday, but I’m not a hater either. When I was little I liked it. My mom always made me feel special and loved (still does too). Screw boys! Mommas are the best! I’m now in that in between phase though- don’t [...]

Brewers Yeast

February 10, 2012

I’m not big on supplements. I prefer getting nutrients in the real form, rather than pills or a bottle. I’m also pretty sceptical about most companies that produce vitamins, and only trust very few. That being said, there are things I add into my diet supplement wise that support my activity level. I don’t take [...]
